Program Overview
Leadership Lee County is a program sponsored by the Auburn and Opelika Chambers of Commerce. It seeks out, honors, educates, challenges, and develops a select group of Lee County Citizens who have the potential to provide the leadership needed to solve problems of community and statewide significance. Participants are selected on the basis of ability, demonstrated interest in the community, and potential for responsible and effective leadership.

All applicants should be reminded of the following commitments required for successful completion of the Leadership Lee County program.

COMMITMENT

  • The Leadership Lee County program consists of nine monthly seminars and kick-off sessions.
  • Participants are expected to attend all full day seminars that are typically held on the third Thursday of the month from October through May. There may be revisions due to school schedules.
  • Mandatory sessions include the half- day session and full day opening session in September (no overnight stay is required). Each participant is asked to attend the evening reception following the half day opening session.
  • We realize that unforeseen emergencies arise. For this reason, you will be allowed to miss two full days and still allowed to graduate with your class. It is your responsibility to notify the Executive Director prior to an absence. Any participant with more than two absences will not receive a diploma from the program. If you are unable to make such a commitment, it is not in your best interest to apply at this time.
  • Tuition will be increasing to $900 this year. As part of the return on investment we are including some exciting new programming to the class sessions. We are also finalizing some changes to the management of the Leadership Lee County organization which will provide expanded resources for the program. These improvements will allow for an enhanced experience with more focus on leadership training to ensure that class members and sponsors are making a worthwhile commitment. With these improvements, Leadership Lee County is more excited than ever to provide the leaders of the future with an experience that is certain to further enhance their leadership skills and encourage the development of positive connections in the Lee County communities.
  • Tuition covers all program costs, including materials, meals, and the retreat.
  • If accepted into the program, you or your employer/ sponsor will be billed for the tuition in full to be paid by October 1, 2019. If full tuition payment is not received by the October 1, 2019, the program fee will be increased to $925. No tuition will be refunded in whole or in part after the Opening Retreat.
  • All applications, including scholarship applications, must include a $25 non-refundable application fee.
